A wet, windy and miserable day heralded the arrival of the media at BV Dairy.
Charlotte Smith (Presenter) and Lucy Taylor (Producer) of the BBC Radio 4 programme Farming Today visited BV Dairy as Storm Erik ‘blew’ through.
Their visit saw the culmination of a week-long series on ‘dairy’ broadcast on national radio. The title of the programme, which aired on Saturday 9 February, was ‘from cow to kefir’ and, having visited one of the Dairy’s milk suppliers they followed the tanker to the Dairy is Shaftesbury, watched it unload and the fresh, high quality milk start its journey to becoming the cultured milk drink, kefir.
The Team also toured the factory watching the processes and care involved in producing the high quality, award winning, specialist dairy products that are made at BV Dairy. They experienced first-hand the high level of hygiene and stringent testing that is at the core of production and visited the award winning Chillstore where they looked at how BV Dairy do all they can to promote energy efficiency and sustainability throughout the business.
