BV Dairy raises cash for Breast Cancer Now with day of pink fun

October 22nd saw BV Dairy turn PINK for a day in support of Breast Cancer Now – the ground-breaking research charity with the belief that in acting now by 2050 all women and men who develop breast cancer will live.

BV Dairy employees were encouraged to wear pink – and that included high-viz!!  Many staff baked or donated ‘pink-themed’ tasty savoury treats and cakes that were sold throughout the day in the reception area.  In addition to staff purchasing a special snack or even lunch from the beautiful array, many visitors also joined in the event. There was also a fun ‘pink based’ quiz for the lunch-break and a ‘Take your Pink’ Sweepstake.

At the end of this colourful day over £200 had been raised for the charity – enough to fund, for example, 200 experiments to help pinpoint which genes make cancer cells grow and spread, an essential step in developing new treatments.

Commercial Director, Harry Cowan (second from the right) confirmed that BV Dairy were pleased to support the national ‘Wear it Pink’ event for Breast Cancer Now.  ‘The amount raised in such a short space of time is quite staggering and I personally wish to thank everyone who donated either cakes or cash. We will definitely be doing something like this again in the future.  Many of our employees support particular charities for personal reasons and we will be looking to our workforce for suggestions on the next beneficiary.’
