Prize presentation at BV Dairy

BV Dairy hosted the winners of their Photography Competition to a presentation event at their offices in Shaftesbury.

The competition, for 16s and under, was launched at this year’s Shaftesbury Festival in May with the theme of ‘Animals, Birds, Fish or Reptiles’. It received a huge amount of interest and the entries were split into 3 groups – up to 8 years, 9-11 years and 12 years and over.  Shortlisted images were displayed at the BV Dairy Stand at the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show in August where they received a tremendous amount of very positive comment.

BV Dairy called on the expert help of Graham Hiscock from Studio H Photography in Wincanton and Stewart Canham, the chairman of The Dorset Wildlife Trust Photographic Group who recently appeared on ITV’s ‘Nature Nuts’ with Julian Clary to provide knowledgeable, independent judging.  Graham and Stewart confirmed that they were impressed by the very high quality of the images and they gave individual feedback on every picture with constructive comment to help the young photographers in future projects.

Winners in each age-group were offered a choice of prize and could either attend a 2 hour, one-to-one photography course with Graham geared to their level of expertise or they could receive their winning image as a 50cm x 30cm canvas print. Runners up received a copy of the National Geographic Guide to Photography – a new, fun publication geared toward younger photographers.

The winners were:

Competition Winners with their parents along with placed entry winners, Harry Cowan (Commercial Director at BV Dairy), 4th from left, Graham Hiscock (Studio H Photography), 6th from left and kneeling, and Millie (BV Dairy’s mischievous mascot).
